Frequently asked questions
General FAQs
We specialize in professional clipper blade sharpening and shear (scissor) sharpening using industry-grade equipment. Our services are designed for:
Dog groomers
Barbers & salons
Veterinarians
Anyone relying on precision cutting tools
We use professional, industry-grade sharpening equipment designed specifically for clipper blades and shears to ensure precision, consistency, and long-lasting results.
For clipper blades, we use precision lapping systems with high-quality sharpening plates to restore a perfectly flat cutting surface and proper blade geometry.
For shears, we use specialized sharpening techniques that preserve the convex edge and hollow grind. This includes the use of premium Japanese waterstones to refine and polish the cutting edge to a razor-sharp finish.
Japanese waterstones are known for their ability to produce extremely fine, smooth edges without overheating or damaging the steel. This allows for a cleaner cut, better performance, and longer edge life.
Every tool is then inspected, adjusted, and tested to ensure it meets professional standards before being returned.

Clipper blades are sharpened using precision lapping plates to restore a flat, even cutting surface
Shears are sharpened using techniques that preserve the convex edge and hollow grind
Each tool is inspected, cleaned, tested, and adjusted before being returned
👉 The result: smoother cuts, longer edge life, and better performance
It depends on usage, but general guidelines:
High-volume groomers: every 1–2 weeks
Moderate use: every 3–6 weeks
Light use: every 2–3 months
👉 If blades are:
Pulling hair
Leaving lines
Getting hot quickly
…it’s time to sharpen.
Most professionals sharpen shears every:
3–6 months (regular use)
Sooner if you notice:
Folding or pushing hair
Loss of smooth cutting
Increased hand fatigue
A convex edge is a smooth, rounded cutting edge found on high-quality shears.
Produces a clean, effortless cut
Requires specialized sharpening to maintain
If done incorrectly, performance is significantly reduced
👉 We preserve and restore convex edges properly.
The ride line is the exact point where the two shear blades meet and cut.
A proper ride line ensures smooth, consistent cutting
An uneven ride line leads to folding hair or poor performance
Every pair of shears is checked and adjusted to ensure optimal ride line alignment.
Yes—and it happens more often than you think.
Common issues with poor sharpening:
Loss of convex edge
Uneven cutting surfaces
Shortened tool lifespan
Blades or shears that don’t cut properly
👉 That’s why using a trained professional matters.
